Camper Safety and Security – Priority #1

All our staff are trained and competent in presenting and facilitating the activities, leading the groups and in safety procedures.

Wortelgat is committed to the developing of dynamic leaders through life-changing experiences, Godly relationships and spiritual training. It is therefore absolutely essential that our camp is a safe space and that we’re proactive about protecting our campers.

We hold the safety of each child in the highest regard, which is why we’ve implemented a comprehensive training plan. Our goal is to set the benchmark within the camping industry in Southern Africa and we refuse to compromise on any aspect when it comes to training. This plan includes:

Our Commitment

One of the greatest concerns you as a parent, school or youth group face, is who influences your young folk. For this reason, we believe it is imperative that staff members are properly screened and possess the training, skills, education, abilities, and heart required to enhance the Wortelgat experience.

Currently Under Construction

As your safety is of paramaount importance to us we are in the process of upgrading, restoring, and making good within certain areas of our activities. In this vein we are urrently unable to offer the following activities; Archery, Zip-Line, the Ferry,  and Kayaking. As soon as these are available we will notify you on this page and when you contact us to book your camp. Also under construction currently is the boardwalk at the Gecko/Bush Camp which will be up and running by the 1st August if not sooner, as well as the ‘Donkey'(water-heater) at that camp.

Exciting Plans for New Activities

In the pipeline are two amazing new entrants to our offering being an international standard MTB trail, and a Skate Park which are both in the planning stage. Soon you and your camp will be able to bring their mountain-bikes and skateboards along with them and programmes offered! We will keep you updated!
